All classes, whether they are specific to yoga, fitness or dance, are designed to enable you to have fun, enjoy exercising and to not feel judged or intimidated.
Through conversations with friends and acquaintances, both generally in life and when working at a gym, it seemed that it wasn't unusual for many people to need a lot of encouragement before beginning a new exercise program. This could be based on feeling like they were "too much" of something (read: fat, old, unfit, slow, shy, quiet, injured etc, etc), or indeed "not enough" of something else (read: fit, slim, young, healthy, and so on) so felt like they weren't able to join in.
If you also tell yourself something along these lines please know that Soul Training aims to provide a welcoming, supportive, encouraging environment for every one and hope that each of you also become one another's cheerleaders.

Do I have to have experience?
The short answer is no, you don't.

We have lost count of the number of times people have said "I can't go to a yoga class, I am not bendy enough!". Practicing yoga is not about being bendy-bodied. Practicing yoga frequently will help you become more supple, physically, if that is what you're aiming for. However the goal of a yoga practice is to go beyond the mind - the physical movements, combined with the breath is just one way of helping you do this. The yoga pose is not the destination, it is part of the journey inward. As are so many other elements of "yoga", in its truest sense,

In fitness classes you will of course work hard, but your level of hard will be different to someone else's and that is quite alright, variations will be offered to suit the individual.

Paracise classes will also offer you variations of movements..

Can I exercise with an injury or health concern?
That depends.
If your GP has said you can exercise, then you can exercise, but hopefully they have given you some guidance on what you should and should not be doing.

However, I cannot emphasise enough just how important it is that you make us aware of any injury or health concerns so that we can provide you with alternative options. We want you to feel more energised, positive and strong - we cannot do that if you re-injure yourself during a class.

You will be required to complete a PAR-Q form (Physical Activity Readiness Questionnaire) which will inform us of your current ability to participate. All information you provide in writing or in conversation will remain confidential.

What should I bring, or wear?
For Paracise and fitness classes please wear comfortable clothing and suitable footwear, i.e. trainers. You will also need to bring a water bottle (we encourage re-usable bottles rather than single use plastic) and potentially a hand towel for when you get sweaty.

During yoga class you will need to wear comfortable clothing that you can move in easily, and you will be bare footed. At times you will have your head lower than your hips and knees so be sure to wear a top that you don't need to keep adjusting.
At the end of class, in Savasana (if you don't know what this is don't worry - everyone can do it) you will want to be warm so bring socks, a jumper and potentially a blanket.

In addition, if you have a yoga mat please bring it along as we have a limited number of mats for others to use.

I have other questions, how do I get in touch?
Please see the "Contact" page, above.
